Job Summary
The staff serves as a Driver of the Ipas Pakistan Head Office with responsibility for assuring fulfilment of the needs for transportation. The Office Driver is required to travel to different provinces/divisions/districts of Pakistan as and when required. The driver makes sure that his duties are fulfilled with full care preserving the confidentiality of all matters related to Ipas Pakistan operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Carries out driving duties as instructed by Admin Advisor
- Practicing safe driving habits and drive vehicle for official travel and business, and as requested by the Supervisor.
- Maintain high standard of service to both internal and external guests.
- Following all safety regulations and standards, that include the road and traffic laws and regulations of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
- Accurately following routes, maps, and directions
- Following schedules and rerouting in timely manner when faced with traffic or congestion
- Checks weekly vehicle schedule for the office (missions, transport needs) prepares necessary plans / arrangements, reports on changes and updates supervisor of changes in a timely manner.
- The driver must ensure that he is in possession of a valid driving license
CAR SECURITY & MAINTENANCE:
- Ensure vehicle (exterior and interior) is kept clean, tidy and in good working condition always.
- Ensure vehicle is always kept secure.
- Provide regular/day-to-day maintenance checks for the vehicle, that include check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc.
- Maintaining vehicle by perform minor repairs if necessary and ensuring general repairs are carried out properly by official manufacturers specifications
- Prepare and record vehicle spare parts inventory
- Prepare and submit vehicle monitoring report, including records of vehicle operations, maintenance, expenses, mileage, (Vehicle Logbook and Vehicle Fuel Forms) at end of each month
- Assist Admin Advisor to ensure vehicle insurance and registration is updated according to schedule
- Maintain daily vehicle Logbook that may consist of mileage, cargo and passenger reports, log official trips, gas consumption etc on daily basis and report it to the Admin Advisor
- Completing documentation such as logs
- To ensure the safety and security of the vehicle and the passenger by practicing safe driving habits report to supervisor any observed irregularities.
- To routinely check office and the parking area and report immediately all security incidents to the Admin Advisor
- Reports any accident or driving incident, even minor to Admin Advisor as quickly as possible and completes necessary reports
- Unauthorized persons should never be taken into an Ipas vehicle.
- Always carries mobile phone, switched on and charged.
- The payment of speeding, parking and other road traffic offence fines will be driver's responsibility.
- The driver should note that when he is personally responsible for an accident, a sanction could be imposed.
Administrative & Logistics Support:
- The driver is responsible for all loading and unloading of goods into vehicle and ensures their security and condition while in the vehicle
- Photocopying, filing, handling mail, delivering goods and correspondences, carrying parcels, packages, and delivery (letters cheques, visas, minor procurements, etc.) and collection of official documents as per required however driving should be taken as priority.
- Assisting in logistic arrangement of meetings, trainings, and workshop activities as and when needed.
- Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line supervisor
Minimum Requirements:
- Pakistani national
- Minimum 10 years of schooling/Matric pass
- At least 3-4 years of professional experience working as a Driver in an office environment
- Previous experience of working with any I/NGO or development sector organization is preferred
- Ability to follow verbal directions, read maps, follow GPS
- Ability to drive car, has valid driving license and clean driving records
Able to adapt to changing schedules or routines

About this role
The Regional Operations Manager (ROM) – Pakistan will ensure the smooth operations in-country. The ROM Pakistan will ensure that he/she works within the policies defined in the BT Way and that Risk Management is central to all decisions and processes. The ROM Pakistan supports the business growth of the region by coordinating the business planning for the region from a commercial and compliance perspective in cooperation with the Managing Director (MD), ROMs MEA & AMEA, Sales Director, Finance and Human Resource (HR) of the region. The ROM Pakistan reviews processes and is a SPOC and driver for service improvements in Pakistan and the wider region when required.
You'll have the following responsibilities
- Support the Regional MD and the ROM MEA in the discharge of their Exco mandated Duties for Pakistan and the wider region when required.
- Support the Regional MD and the ROM MEA (coordinating the business planning and compliance for the region with the Regional Sales Director, Finance and HR by advising on segmentation, KPI’s and productivity across countries, functions and roles.
- Support with the Non-Financial Control compliance, ensuring that Pakistan is fully compliant with the full list of Non-Financial Controls and supporting the ROM MEA to ensure compliance across the entire region as required. Perform those aspects of the Financial controls relating to fillings and administration of returns.
- The role may be a Director of one or a number of BT subsidiary companies operating in the region and must comply with all the requirements for the country and BT.
- Support with the implementation of the local Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and support the ROM MEA with BCP planning for the region as required.
- Ensure compliance, including but not limited to Health & Safety, Environmental, Customs and International Trade & Sanctions etc.
- Customs & International Trade local SPOC. Manage local customs clearance agency related activities.
- Support the ROM MEA with Regional Operations reporting e.g. Cluster Review, Regional Governance Committee etc.
- Support 2nd and 3rd lines of Defence Teams to ensure other BT Group Governance teams are facilitated in their investigations and ensure audits recommendations get closed timeously.
- SPOC for external audits. Ensure audit findings are remediated timeously.
- Support the Security team where required to fulfil internal and external audit requirements. Support to ensure that any findings are remediated to maintain certification.
- Implement interventions and track progress to improve governance performance
- Co-ordinate specialist support. Engage with and ensure support from non-GS regional specialists. E.G. Health & Safety, Environmental etc.
- Other non-formal Governance related activities, including Business Process Reviews & Gaps Analysis, Global Footprint, POP strategy; ISO9001 Certification, Facilities Management and local product launch.
- In country escalation point and representative for all local related matters e.g. customs (import/export).
- Support BT Global business functions with (A-end and B-end) in the country, including contract, commercial, operational and supplier issues that may arise.
- Support the Regional Finance team by being present for tax inspections and to make representation on BT’s trading model. To respond to any queries on customers, services and underlying infrastructure in-country. Have a thorough knowledge of BT’s operating model and the local tax regulations to effectively defend and support any challenge from the tax authority.
- Support the Regional Finance team to co-ordinate with the local bank to provide on-ground support with the cash repatriation process. This would include understanding paperwork requirements from the bank and submission of documents with bank, tax authorities and central bank as required.
- Interact with multiple authorities to support the clearance process. Be a trusted resource who should liaise with the local banks to arrange all hardcopy paperwork required to register contracts of import into Pakistan and simultaneously work with the customs clearing agent.
- Support the Regional Regulatory team and act as the local SPOC and representative before the Pakistani Telecommunications Authority (PTA). Make representations on the underlying regulated services that BT renders in country and explain the operating model and infrastructure used to deliver services to our customers. Support with the reporting requirement post the licence renewal process. Maintain and manage the relationship with the Regulator (PTA).
- Contract Management support to close off any legacy issues and ensure successful transition of contracts to the respective hubs.
- Support with ad-hoc cheque collections from customers, couriering of documents to the banks and tax advisors and carry out any duties as instructed by the Regional MD and ROM MEA as required.
- Administer Ambassador activities, co-ordinate internal and external engagements on behalf of the ROM MEA and Regional MD where required.
You'll have the following skills & experience
Experience in Pakistan operations and legislation
Experience managing business deliverables in multiple countries, understanding regulations and culture.
Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Finance, HR, Facilities, Business Operations, Risk Management, Legal and Mergers/ Acquisitions/ Divestitures.
Experience of operational activities that need to be delivered in support of the rest of the Global organisation; e.g. Risk Management.
Experience of governance and compliance, and general control areas.
Experience of working in a fast paced environment, across cultures and business disciplines.
Experience of leading change successfully with a focus on continuous effectiveness of enabling/support functions
Demonstrable communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills
The ability to build relationships with stakeholders including, HR, Finance and Legal etc.
Ability to influence senior stakeholders through persuasion rather than seniority
Skills in working in a matrix structure and overseeing virtual teams of experts
Ability to make a stand and “Do the Right Thing”
